The much celebrated super hit of Suresh Gopi,'Chinthamani Kolacase' directed by Shaji Kailas, will be remade again in Bollywood. The film will feature Sunny Deol in the role that Suresh Gopi played in the original. Hit director K S Adhiyaman will direct this film in Hindi.

The movie is being remade in Tamil in the title 'Ellam Avan Seyyal' by Shaji himself. The shoot for the film is on at Chennai, where the director is in his final schedule of the production. He will then shoot for a song at Theni.

The new found heroine of Mollywood 'Bhama' will make her debut into Kollywood playing the title role of the film as Chinthamani.

Vidyasagar is the music director of this film which also offer some surprises in the form of Roja who is making a comeback after five years to Kollywood. Roja will present herself in the character that Vani Vishwanath had done in the original.

There are many ways to distribute the films but most of the producers prefer Minimum Guarantee (MG) system. Under this system the producer would get a minimum amount and if the film collects more than the amount, it would be shared by both distributors and producer. If the film collects below the amount the producer is not liable to (re)pay the amount.

The other system is called ‘distribution’, under which the producer is liable to pay the difference if the film collects less than the minimum amount paid by the distributors. Many producers do not opt for this system, as it involves some risk, while the MG system guarantees a minimum income.

Prakash Raj, however, has dared to go for the ‘distribution’ system for his ‘Vellithirai’. He has opted for this despite the fact that distributors had come forward to take the film on MG basis.

Why Prakash Raj should take such a risk is the question raised by many in the industry. Is it a sign of his concern towards the distributors or a sign of the confidence on his product?

The forthcoming project of Ajith directed by Raju Sundaram is the topic of discussion in the media now. The film went on floors without a title and after a while it was announced that it would be called Aegan inspired from the Sivapuranam. The crew had completed a schedule at Hong Kong successfully and would be proceeding further with it right now at various locales. Nayanthara who played the role of Ajith’s love interest in Billa will once again be doing the role of heroine in Aegan too.

Now the crew has announced that there would be a character of Ajith’s younger brother in the film and it would be Navdeep who had made an impressive debut with Arindhum Ariyamalum and Ilavattam. There would also be a heroine to accompany Navdeep and the unit is scouting for the same right now. Navdeep is a happy man for obvious reasons and avers that Aegan would surely be a turning point in his life.

Fasten your seat belts! An exciting phase is about to begin, starting with BLACK & WHITE this Friday, followed by RACE, U ME AUR HUM, KRAZZY 4… The flow of films continues non-stop till December this year. As per rough estimates, Rs. 125 crores are riding on films scheduled for release in March and April and I expect the tide to change for better in these two months.

Of course, May, June and August should be lucrative as well, business-wise. Expect a windfall!

All theories, all prophecies, all calculations have proved incorrect. No one expected JODHAA AKBAR to work big time in Overseas. The Overseas junta is just not interested in historicals, many prominent U.K. and U.S.-based distributors told me prior to its release. But looking at the speed at which JODHAA AKBAR is galloping in U.K., U.S.A., Australia, Middle East and other international markets, it has only infused a lot of faith in qualitative cinema.

A good film works. Period.

Where are the prices heading? The actors are charging Rs. 15-20-25 crores, now the directors' paycheck is likely to touch Rs. 5-6-8 crores per film? Are the prices justified? Well, as long as the person shelling out the money has no issue, who are we to complain?

My only concern is, at the rate the prices are zooming upwards, will the producers/investors be able to recover their investment? At the moment, there're three major players in the market [UTV, Eros, Studio 18]. But how many films will they eventually acquire? Think about it!

Happened to watch Subhash Ghai's new outing BLACK & WHITE last Friday at a very, very select screening of Ghai's friends. Must say, Ghai has the courage to swim against the tide. He could've made a comic caper, he could've cast any actor he desired, he could've hired the best of technicians. But he chose to work with a new face [Anurag Sinha] and a new technical crew.

I am amazed at the confidence levels of Anurag. This guy has the potential to rock big time. Watch out!
