It was splendid. The décor matched the theme of the film, and the stars flocked at the premiere of Jodhaa Akbar . Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker was playing the perfect host. And with the press show having gone off successfully in the afternoon itself, word was rife that Jodhaa was no ordinary film, but a classic where the magnanimity of it all was to be cherished and experienced. This probably gave the cast and crew of JA, who were there in full strength, much confidence.
The premiere surprisingly began quite on time. And the stars flocked at the venue in large numbers. The stunning Aishwarya, looking gorgeous in a sari, was ably backed by her parents-in-law, Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan and of course Amar Singh, while Hrithik Roshan walked in with pregnant wife Suzanne, followed by his in-law's khandaan .
Rekha added glam to the event, and much buzz of being at a venue where the Bachchans were present only created that little stir. Aamir Khan was the next 'star' there who literally brought taare zameen par . Anil Kapoor, Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha, Goldie Behl and the gorgeous Sonali Bendre, Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi, Kangana Ranaut, Abbas-Mustan, Prasoon Joshi, Kunal Kohli, Madhur Bhandarkar, Akbar Khan... all made it to the Jodhaa Akbar premiere, and the audience returned to their homes entertained.
Ash's hubby, actor Abhishek Bachchan flew into Mumbai only after the premiere had already begun and made it to the venue at interval time, to be with his real-life Jodhaa on her big day. It's a bonus that it was Valentine's Day as well!
The film, having received a standing ovation, looks forward to a bright box office collection. But let's wait and watch if the Ash-Hrithik jodi will manage to impress the junta once again. For like in cricket, in B-wood too, you can just never tell!
